Traditional and creative cultures flourish in Albuquerque. The diversity and quality of our unique culture give rise to the abundance of art, galleries and theaters. From fine to classical to avant-garde, our city is thriving with arts. Home to more than 100 galleries and studios, Albuquerque offers a variety of fine art, authentic Southwestern jewelry, pottery and contemporary art. Your vacation won't be complete without a trip to an Albuquerque theater or a visit to an Albuquerque art museum.

 

New Mexico art is a unique expression of the the Southwest experience connecting you to the people and the land of Albuquerque.  Experience cutting-edge performances at Albuquerque's Tricklock Theatre, dances at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, or classical music and performances at the University of New Mexico's Popejoy Hall. Our city is rich with performing arts. Regular performances are scheduled throughout the city and can be found through the Albuquerque Theatre Guild. The arts in Albuquerque are locally supported and world-renowned.

Kim Ashley Photography offers unique fine art photographs of New Mexico.

Mr. Ashley's acclaimed photographic style captures the essence of the "Land of Enchantment," including its dramatic landscapes, its historic landmarks, and its rich multicultural traditions. His photography can be viewed and purchased at the Albuquerque Photographers Gallery in Old Town.

Mr. Ashley is also the author of the popular "Photographing Albuquerque," a 76-page guidebook that takes the reader to the best photographic sights in and around Albuquerque and provides numerous tips on how to turn ordinary snapshots into compelling photographic images. New Grounds features etchings, mezzotints, lithographs, monotypes & gravures by outstanding NM & International artists (Europe, Japan & Mexico). With more than 40 artists represented, subject matters & styles range from contemporary to traditional with hundreds of framed & unframed works to choose from. Exhibitions rotate every four weeks featuring a solo exhibition in the main gallery & new work by gallery artists throughout the 3000 sq ft printmaking facility. Opening receptions are on First Friday Artscrawls, every first Fri of the month from 5pm-8pm.

In addition, New Grounds is a non-toxic printmaking facility offering classes, affordable press rental, memberships & cost plus framing.

What we do:

We host a variety of Jazz, Blues, Salsa and Latin Jazz artists with 38 concerts and assembly programs each year, including Salsa Under the Stars and Jazz/Blues Under the Stars.

Our adult and youth education programs reach 10,000 students throughout the state each year with programs including adult classes, youth jazz ensembles, camp, and summer jazz intensive and big band programs.

The New Mexico Jazz Workshop relies on donor contributions to help us continue providing quality programs. We invite you to join us in our efforts by becoming a sponsor, member, volunteer, or board member and contribute what you can.
